Company History

Hydrotech was incorporated in November 2006 to fully acquire the intellectual property rights belonging to Hong Kong based Universal Solutions Limited. USL was established in May 2005 with the objective of acquiring, developing and marketing Multi-Pulse Sequencing (MPS) .

Karl J Grebstad, a Norwegian, is an international architect and major shareholder of USL. His practical architectural experience in Hong Kong in particular, which necessitated solving water ingress problems in substantial buildings and structures on reclaimed land and unstable soils, fostered his interest in finding a practical and cost effective solution. He has since gained extensive experience in the field of Reverse Osmosis and has progressively and significantly advanced the effective implementation of this technology, both in relation to existing buildings and also designing it into new structures.

In 1987 Mr Grebstad established Concrete Solutions Limited with a view to developing the Hong Kong and China market for reverse Osmotic Technologies. After a number of successful installations, Concrete Solutions’ personnel and technical know how were acquired by USL Group in 2005. Experience gained in Asia and Norway led to the development of the MPS system, which is the culmination of 10 years development in conjunction with electronic engineers and scientists in Norway and Hong Kong.

In 2005, USL Group established a dedicated subsidiary known as Underground Solutions International Limited (USIL) with offices in Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, and Norway. USIL will consider opening offices in Continental Europe after the consolidation of the UK business plan.

On July 16th 2007, Hydrotech International Limited commenced trading on the Australian Stock Exchange following the successful raising of AUD$8 million. Funds raised were to ensure that the company could fully implement it’s commercialisation process through the hiring of key engineering personnel in both the United Kingdom and Hong Kong.

On June 5 2012, Hydrotech International Limited privatised its waterproofing business. The MPS business and intellectual property were transferred to Hydrotech Asia Limited. Headquartered in Hong Kong, Hydrotech Asia is now serving clients in the United Kingdom, Mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
